What other limitations should I consider?
Buying a vehicle triggers Oklahoma excise tax: 3.25% of the price for a new vehicle; for a used vehicle, $20 on the first $1,500 plus 3.25% of the rest. A 1.25% sales tax also applies to most purchases. Neither is included; Service Oklahoma offers a tax estimator. Transferring ownership adds a $17 transfer fee, and vehicles from out of state need a $4 VIN inspection. A tire tax also varies by vehicle. These are not included. Owners can choose a two-year registration, which costs two full years of registration plus two insurance fees. Plug-in hybrids pay $30 a year; choose the plug-in hybrid option. Regular hybrids pay no extra fee. Licensed operators (tag agencies) and online renewal may add service or convenience charges, not included. Replacing an older plate with the new standard plate costs $4 at renewal.
